ORC — Master Bedroom Makeover // Week 3 Update
We’re currently in the throes of the Fall 2019 One Room Challenge and it’s been…challenging. Juggling work with DIYs and a tight deadline is actually a lot harder to keep up with than I imagined it would be. Since starting, my plans have changed (a few times), countless returns have been made, and I’ve more than exceeded the number of free wood cuts Home Depot allows, but we’re pushing through! In case you missed anything, here’s where you can catch up on what I’ve done so far:
10/1 — October Mood Board — Moody Master Bedroom
10/3 — ONE ROOM CHALLENGE — Master Bedroom Makeover! (Week 1)
10/10 — Week 2 Update
10/17 — Week 3 Update
10/24 — Week 4 Update
10/31 — Week 5 Update
11/7 — Final Reveal! (Week 6)
We’ve made some noticeable progress and I’m finally starting to see my vision come together. I’m still waiting on my new bed to be delivered, almost every project in the room is like half-finished, and rest of my home looks pretty similar to a disaster zone, but hey, progress over perfection, right?
The accent wall we did behind the bed came out beautifully and I couldn’t be happier with it! The glossy stripes look awesome and I love the way it adds interest to the space without being overwhelming. You can’t always see all of the stripes (which makes them super hard to photograph), but that’s actually what I like most about them. They’re like a subtle surprise, depending on the light and where you’re standing in the room. You can read all about how we DIYed the accent wall in this post!
The rest of our progress consisted mostly of project prep. The pull-out laundry cabinet is coming along, and after trying a few different configurations, I think I found the best way to make them inexpensively. I was also able to get all of my wood cuts done for the bookcase laundry cabinet doors, but I’m pretty sure the guys at Home Depot hate me for it. Dreaming of the day I have my own table saw and don’t have to ask someone else to cut 7 doors and 28 pieces of trim (and an entire bed frame) for me…
I’m off to go cross more tasks off of my to-do list. As always, be sure to checkout what the other guest designers and featured designers are up to! Lots of progress being made and tons of inspiration! To my fellow designers, keep up the amazing work & let’s finish this second half strong! See you all back here soon :)
