Small Entryway Makeover Reveal

My new apartment is coming together so beautifully and I couldn’t be happier! I love this place more and more everyday and it really does feel like Ira and I are turning it into a home. In case you missed it, I mentioned all of my plans for our new place in this post & now I’m finally able to share my progress with y’all! Throughout September & October I’ll be walking you through all of my designs, decor, and DIYs as I finish up things up. So first up on my list of reveals…

entryway makeover!

Our last apartment had 1) no entryway, 2) outdoor stairs, and 3) was on the third floor…my quads burn just thinking about it. Our new apartment solves all of those problems (& more!) and looks darn good if I do say so myself.

Since the new entryway is pretty small, we needed a storage solution for our shoes that wouldn’t take up a lot of floor space. We used the Hemnes Shoe Cabinet from IKEA cabinet (normally $99), but we actually found ours on Facebook Marketplace for half off retail! Score!

I swapped out the drawer knobs to match the silver hardware in the rest of our house and make it look a little more modern. The drawer compartments pull open and have enough space for about 8 pairs of Ira’s (giant) shoes or 12 pairs of mine.

All of the decor is from Target, At Home, & Micheal’s and came in right around $150. I love love love seeing this vignette whenever I come home and the mirror is perfect for checking your outfit before you leave the house. I’m a little bummed I didn’t get a chance to use a round mirror in this space, but this beveled mirror from Target fit perfectly (and was on sale!) so I just couldn’t pass it up.

On the wall with the window, I installed a simple coat/hat rack and small knob hooks (both from IKEA) for hanging our keys. When decorating smalls spaces, I always try to utilize the walls as much as possible and opt for low profile items that won’t get in the way of anything else. The rack fits perfectly behind our front door and the knobs almost disappear into the wall when they’re not being used. I love that both of these look good & blend in perfectly with the modern feel of the apartment.

One last little thing about this space, the rug. This rug has been such a savior and has lived everywhere—from in the kitchen, to the back patio, and now in the entryway. The weather strip on our front door keeps us from being able to have a nice soft rug like I wanted, so luckily this one is thin enough for the door to glide right over it. It’s great for breaking up the empty space of the floor, plus, it’s sister is right outside our front door so it gives the whole area some cute continuity.

And there you have it! A super simple, quick, & affordable entryway makeover!
