2022, I’m Coming For You!
Clearly, I have not yet learned the art of “underpromise, overdeliver.” Seriously. I struggle with this in just about every facet of my life because I really do think I can do it all! Call it my toxic trait, if you will.
Last year around this time I wrote a blog post outlining all the rooms I planned on tackling in 2021, and for better or worse, I only actually accomplished 3 out of the 7 rooms on that list. Butttt, I also did 4 rooms that weren’t on that list AND did one of the rooms twice! So cut me a lil’ slack, okay?
All of that to say, lists are for losers. Or possibly people with better planning skills and impulse control than I, but I haven’t quite figured out which. So here it is. My very tentative, “this will most definitely change, but I’m throwing it out there anyway to give us something to look back on”, project list for 2022!
Off to a great start! We should be wrapping this one up within the next week or so! My first goal for 2022 was to completely finish that last little lingering 5% of projects’ past. I’m happy to report that so far, we’ve tackled baseboards & door trim (in the main areas only, I’m not super woman y’all), paint touch ups, and this week we’ll be repainting the laundry room and wrapping up the WERKshop.
This was another project that I started last year, but it has way more than 5% left before we can call it done. I’m super excited to get back to building the built-ins and showing y’all what I have in store for the fireplace!
I can’t say too much about this space quite yet, buuuuut you’re gonna lose your 💩 when you see it. Just know we did some thangs, we’re gonna have to undo some thangs, and then we’re gonna do some more thangs!
Two words: Chrome. DELETE. We really want to get this bathroom looking more luxurious, and less builder grade. We’ll be installing new tile, changing the countertops, changing out the lighting, getting a frameless shower enclosure, installing a matching vanity towers, and putting in all-new decor. It’s gonna be GOOD.
Does the ceiling remind you of a Reese’s cup? Because ever since I saw it, I can’t unsee it. So that might be getting painted black. Plus we’ll add barn doors leading into the gym, and a new floating entryway table that has closed storage instead of the baskets.
Just a few small updates to this space to make it feel complete! I’ll be adding more cabinets above the fridge and underneath the island to give us some much needed storage, and continuing the backsplash up to the ceiling. Oh, and doing lots and lots of organizing!
If you know me at all, you know this is more Ira’s domain than it is mine so I’m leaving most of the design decisions up to him (and granting myself full veto power, of course). This room needs better storage, possibly an accent wall, and don’t forget the barn doors! (Andddd we’ll move my desk out of there lol.)
This picture of his office is actually old, and a few things have changed already, but the overall effect remains the same. Current state: a tasteful mix of bachelor pad, frat house, and hoarder’s paradise. (I say that with love.) Again, this is Ira’s space so he’ll be influencing a lot of the design decisions, but basically, the only things that will stay are the guitars, desk chair, futon, and coffee table. Hopefully, by the time we’re done with this space, it’ll be giving off full bachelor pad meets evil genius lair vibes.
And that’s all she wrote! Follow along on Instagram or TikTok if you want to see the project unfold in real-time. I’ll be trying my absolute hardest this year to keep my blog updated weekly. But, juuuust in case that doesn’t happen, at the very least, I guess I’ll see you back here next year to do the whole “what I planned vs. what I did” dance again.
Bye, Homies!
