Bring On The Boo(ze)!—How To Easily Create A Home Bar Using IKEA Furniture
Get it? Like boo’s because it’s almost #spookyszn, except booze because we’re talking about home bars? I’m hilarious, I know.
Today I’ve rounded up a couple of to-die-for home bar setups using IKEA furniture! Side note: this is not a sponsored post, I just love a good IKEA hack.
Their furniture is so easy to repurpose and affordable which makes hacking it so simple. Their shelves, storage cube units, Vittsjo series, utility carts, and various storage cabinets can all be used individually or together to used to make virtually type of bar setup. My home bar
My own bar is made up of floating shelves, a picture ledge (for the shot glasses), and a cube storage unit. I love that it fills the space perfect and allows the bar to double as storage and display. (In case you’re wondering what this space looked like before, you can find that over here.)
I’ve already had two iterations of this bar—in my last apartment (below) and my current one (above). When planning this out, I drew a couple different options on paper first then used painter’s tape to see what it would look like on the wall before actually mounting anything. You can create an intricate layout with the shelves, stagger them, or just stack them for a simple look. The options are endless so get creative!
Also, don’t be afraid to switch up the styling of your shelves and use them for seasonal decorating. I’m honestly not sure that I ever want to take those tiny pumpkins down! They’re just so darn cute and really help to carry the fall feeling through each space in my home. You don’t have to go overboard with the styling, just a few simple touches is enough to highlight the space without it feeling overwhelming and cluttered.

After you’re done creating your bar, fill the area with alcohol related items such as glasses, cutting boards, bottle openers, cocktail recipe books, and shot glasses. You’ll have a functional display that’s also visually appealing! Don’t forget to add art, plants, or other decor items to help it flow with the rest of your space…and of course, alcohol. (But really, who could ever forget the alcohol?!) Now get designing & drinking—just, probably not at the same time!
