Affordable Rug Roundup! - 14 Large Neutral Rugs That Work With Any Style & Budget
I’ve been looking at A LOT of rugs lately. Our new apartment is open concept and mostly hard flooring so we’ll need a pretty large rug to define the living room space. My main goals when putting a rug in any space are usually just to add style and comfort, but rugs are useful for a number of other thing as well. For example, they can also protect hardwood floors from damage, reduce noise/keep sound from carrying, and help insulate a room. I’ve always loved how rugs can pull the whole room together aesthetically, but also serve a very functional purpose. There’s only thing one thing I don’t like about rugs…the cost.
I’m sure anyone that’s ever been in the market for a new rug can relate to this—You shop every store you can think of, you finally find a rug you simply can’t live without, you flip the price tag over and practically choke on the price, and then it’s back to your search and repeat. Rugs can be really expensive, especially for larger sizes, so I’ve done the hard work for you!

My favorite rug look right now is layering rugs. I love how the layered look seamlessly crosses over from coastal, to farmhouse, to modern styles without seeming out of place. A jute or natural rug (like #12) with a vintage, patterned rug on top— I just can’t get enough! Jute rugs are also usually a little less expensive so you can get a large size, and then throw a smaller, softer rug on top for comfort. It’s super stylish, and with my picks, super affordable!
I haven’t made any decisions about a living room rug, but the layered look is definitely at the top of my list right now. Let me know your favorite rug in the comments!
